About Me
Mountain Bike Strengthening Coach and Creator of the Ride Life
Meet Your Coach Liz
Hey, I’m Liz Koch.
Do you remember how you felt when you first learned to ride a bike? The joy. The excitement. The freedom–you could go anywhere!
For me, mountain biking was something I picked up as a kid. I gave it up when I went to college so I could focus on playing division 1 soccer. Unfortunately, playing soccer wasn’t the fairytale I was hoping it would be. I was plagued with injuries and a serious illness.
My coaches dismissed me, the doctors didn’t know what was wrong with me, and my identity as a high-level soccer player was shattered.
I felt alone and could no longer play a sport I loved, only to be surrounded by people who left me feeling defeated. I decided to put myself first and focus on developing supportive relationships.
But the years of pushing my body to its limits had taken its toll. There had to be a better way. I decided to pursue a career in physical therapy and learn how to strengthen and heal my body.
How I Found Relief Through Mountain Bike Strengthening and Created The Ride Life
In PT school, I suffered from chronic pain in my neck and back and began to work with a wonderful physical therapist who helped me learn how to strengthen my body for my specific body type.
I began to feel better and get stronger, so I decided to get back into mountain biking and find the joy I had riding a bike as a kid.
But mountain biking was more challenging than I remembered. I couldn’t keep up with my friends. I had pain in my neck and back. I worked so hard to get my body back into shape, only to feel weak again.
I created mountain bike strengthening workouts to help me ride better. And slowly I began to train other women.
I concentrated on creating a training environment to encourage women to celebrate their bodies and the amazing machine it is.
This is where The Ride Life was born.
Mountain bike strengthening will help you to learn more about your body, how it’s made, and what muscles to engage to maximize your efforts. Let The Ride Life help you get there.
I don’t believe in spending hours in the gym. For most of us, it’s not realistic, especially for women. I’ve developed a program where you can:
- Identify your base level of fitness and begin a mountain bike strengthening program designed for your body type.
- Strengthen specific muscle groups to maximize the skills needed to feel in control of your bike.
- See results on your workout mat in as little as 15-20 minutes a day.
- Be encouraged by other like-minded women who love to ride their mountain bikes.
It took me years to discover my body, learn how to make it stronger, and feel good in my own skin. But it doesn’t have to take you years.
The Ride Life is a place where you’ll be encouraged, feel heard, and be empowered.
I’ll help you get stronger, learn mountain biking skills to become a more confident rider, and be empowered both on and off the trails.
The Ride Life is not just a mountain bike strengthening program, it’s a philosophy
Liz Isn’t Your Average Mountain Bike Coach
“Liz was available to talk with me about some of the lower back pain I experienced when working out or biking. She walked me through some adjustments I can make now and in the future. That was a game changer for me and is really why I’m writing this. Because honestly, this is the first program I’ve joined where the ‘main person’ is available for that kind of thing. She also comments on our team page and when people share their videos, etc… This meant a lot to me!”

Liz lives with her husband, daughter, and dog Porter in North Carolina. She’s passionate about creating online mountain bike strengthening programs for women. As a doctor of physical therapy, she uses her knowledge to break down exercises to help you become a stronger mountain biker. Her training as a PMBIA Level I mountain bike coach allows her to combine the best of physical therapy and mountain biking techniques so you’ll climb hills faster, feel confident shredding corners, and ride downhills. Liz has created a mountain bike strengthening program with YOU in mind!
